A Message from Robbie Holz

Dr. Gary Holz transitioned to the Other Side on April 3, 2007 while at his home in Anacortes, Washington. Just as he lived his life, he completed his life with inspiring grace and courage. My husband Gary told me about a year prior to his passing that he would be wrapping up his work here to return Home as requested by God since he was needed more on the Other Side.

In our last few days together, when I questioned him, Gary acknowledged what I suspected; that yes, he had been silently and enduringly waiting for me to make the necessary changes in my life. Those changes would ensure my healthy survival from my life-threatening Hepatitis C after he was gone. I had to discover on my own that I needed to change and what those changes would be. Through his patience, he was showing me yet another example of the extreme level of love he was always quietly bestowing on me.

Later I noticed the quote on my seldom-read daily calendar was the following: "No one can persuade another to change. Each of us guards a gate of change that can only be opened from the inside. We cannot open the gate of another, either by argument or by emotional appeal."

Clearly, I was being loved by a very wise man.

Gary not only gave me the beautiful gift of a higher level of love that never wavered, but he gave me the most precious gift of all by showing me how to develop a deeper awareness and relationship with God. On March 13, 2007, I independently made a choice to commit to higher levels of self-love and self-care. Two weeks later, Gary could see my commitment and also knew my relationship with God was strong. Gary knew he could now leave me. Within a week's time, his health rapidly declined. He was making the final preparations for his journey Home. A heavenly message was clearly sent to me that there was much excitement on the Other Side awaiting his return Home.

In our final days together as Gary was going through the last stages of his body slowly fading, he continued to give me beautiful teachings. He helped me understand more deeply how God is the healer within each of us. God's healing is always available to us but done so according to our soul's individual life plan, not our mind's desires.

Through Gary's healing gifts over the years, he was showing us what is possible when you open up, trust and allow God's love to come through. God can do anything from healing a life-threatening disease, take away physical or emotional pain, or provide higher levels of comfort, strength and guidance when you are willing to ask and accept it. His Help is given with tremendous love and always in our best interest.

People often mistakenly saw Gary's 20-plus years with Multiple Sclerosis and many years in a wheelchair only as an incredible hardship. And though it was at times, Gary also saw it as a blessing and understood it was the method for his soul's unique mission. The wheelchair became his bridge to God by slowing his busy life and even busier mind, taking away life's distractions which motivated him to spend most of his days talking to God. He could not have felt more blessed and grateful for his strengthened relationship with God, which his seemingly-restrictive wheelchair fostered.

As I move through the intense experience of grief from physically losing Gary, I feel deeper depths of despair and pain than I ever imagined existed; something you can never truly know until you've been to the deepest place of pain within. But Gary taught me well, for I am asking and allowing God to comfort me, and God has done a beautiful job providing me that solace and strength.

What I did not anticipate was still feeling Gary so strongly. From e-mails and conversations, others are feeling his loving presence and stronger assistance as well. Apparently he's busier than ever. Gary gave me the ability to see the light of the energy of love he was sending me when I closed my eyes. That is often in the past how I knew he was working on me. The light of healing love I am now seeing is brighter than ever before and with me often. In the mornings when I meditate, Gary's light of love is waiting for me. When I close my eyes and call to him throughout the day, within minutes the light appears and I feel his presence.

In the few days immediately following the 33 deaths at the tragedy at Virginia Tech., Gary was not coming to me as often when I called to him. I knew he was very much involved in extending help to the many victims, families and friends. It gives me great joy to know his love and comfort are now more strongly there for those who need it. May it serve as a reminder that there are powerful loving forces always there for all of us, quietly working behind the scenes.

Gary was a beautiful expression of God's love flowing strongly through him. I realize Gary was more than a humble conduit for God's healing energy of love. He nourished the seed of love within us, assisting us in reaching higher levels of wellness in mind/body/spirit.

May Gary's never-ending messages, which were gained through sacrifice and courage, allow the light of love to shine brighter within us. Gary's favorite expression couldn't have been more poignant for us all: Love is All.
